#Setup
1. Clients and proxy
These pages use the App Router with cookie sessions (see Next.js SSR). Set NEXT_PUBLIC_AURABASE_URL and NEXT_PUBLIC_AURABASE_ANON_KEY, then add the server client and the proxy. On Next.js 15 name the file middleware.ts and the function middleware.

import { cookies } from 'next/headers'

// Server Components cannot write cookies: the proxy below refreshes the session instead.
setAll(list) {
try {
list.forEach(({ name, value, options }) => store.set(name, value, options))
} catch {}
},
},
})

#Links
4. Email and magic links
Confirmation and magic-link emails link to <Site URL>/verify-email?token=… and <Site URL>/magic-link/verify?token=…. A route handler consumes the token, then redirects.
app/verify-email/route.tstypescript
import { NextResponse, type NextRequest } from 'next/server'
import { serverClient } from '@/lib/aurabase/server'
export async function GET(request: NextRequest) {
const token = request.nextUrl.searchParams.get('token')
if (token) {
const aura = await serverClient()
const { error } = await aura.auth.verifyOtp({ type: 'signup', token })
if (!error) return NextResponse.redirect(new URL('/dashboard', request.url))
}
return NextResponse.redirect(new URL('/login?error=LINK_INVALID', request.url))
}
app/magic-link/verify/route.tstypescript
import { NextResponse, type NextRequest } from 'next/server'
import { serverClient } from '@/lib/aurabase/server'
export async function GET(request: NextRequest) {
const token = request.nextUrl.searchParams.get('token')
if (token) {
const aura = await serverClient()
const { error } = await aura.auth.verifyMagicLink(token)
if (!error) return NextResponse.redirect(new URL('/dashboard', request.url))
}
return NextResponse.redirect(new URL('/login?error=LINK_INVALID', request.url))
}
#Dashboard
5. Protected page
app/dashboard/actions.tstypescript
'use server'
import { redirect } from 'next/navigation'
import { serverClient } from '@/lib/aurabase/server'
export async function logout() {
const aura = await serverClient()
await aura.auth.signOut()
redirect('/login')
}
app/dashboard/page.tsxtsx
import { redirect } from 'next/navigation'
import { serverClient } from '@/lib/aurabase/server'
import { logout } from './actions'
export default async function DashboardPage() {
const aura = await serverClient()
const { data: user } = await aura.auth.getUser()
if (!user) redirect('/login')
return (
<main>
<h1>Dashboard</h1>
<p>Signed in as {user.email}</p>
<form action={logout}>
<button type="submit">Sign out</button>
</form>
</main>
)
}
On the local stack, emails are captured by Mailpit instead of being sent. Open its inbox with kubectl -n aurabase-dev port-forward svc/aurabase-mailpit 8025:8025, then http://localhost:8025. Add your app's origin (for example http://localhost:3000/*) to Studio › Authentication › Configuration › Redirect URLs and set the Site URL to it.
Info
proxy.ts only redirects on the routes listed in PROTECTED; the dashboard page checks the user again with getUser() because a proxy is not an authorization boundary on its own.
